Set Your Hope on a Good God

“So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, ‘Because I asked the LORD for him.'” 1 Samuel 1:20

This week I joined Rebecka R Jones’s Bible Art Journaling Challenge for 2016.  The Theme is “Heaven is Calling” this year.  The verses for our first challenge were in 1 Samuel 1:1-20:

After much anguish and pleading, God answers Hannah’s prayer for a long awaited child. Not only did she have 1 child, she was blessed with 5 more children after Samuel! God is GOOD! He already knows our needs, but He wants us lay our desires at His feet.  Hannah promised her firstborn son to God, and she delivered (no pun intended ;)). This story is real to me because my husband and I waited for 2 years before our firstborn son was born.  I believed in my heart that God would answer, but it was an extremely painful time of waiting.  I finally took a step of faith and went to a small circle of prayer warriors and asked them to pray for me.  I believe it was the act of faith that God was pleased with (believe me, it wasn’t easy to come forward for prayer) because he answered our prayers shortly thereafter!  He is able to meet our needs. With every prayer God answers, my faith grows stronger.  But I also have learned that no matter the outcome, God is still Good and His love never fails.

Some people don’t see God as a good God.  They see negative circumstances in their life or the lives of others and assume that God’s out to get them.  That couldn’t be further from the truth.  He loves us deeply because He is our Father.

The Apostle Paul says that when we are led by the Spirit of God, we become His children, His offspring through adoption. We may be in body and He may be in Spirit, but at the core, we are family. We have been freed from spiritual slavery and fear. Within the body of Christ we differ in race and nation, but deep down we’re family, born of God. We call Him “Daddy” (the affectionate meaning of “Abba”).  Dr. Bill Strom

How amazing that we can call an all powerful God “Daddy”.  He knew us before time.  He bends His ear to listen to our cries and stores our tears in a secret place.

This song is so beautiful (brings tears to my eyes) and has been on my heart as I was drawing this image; I had to share!

I used colored pencils and micron pens for my drawing.  I was inspired by the photo.  I’m happy with how it turned out.
