I woke up to the sound of a loud chirping bird right outside my window this morning. With spring in full-bloom, I’ve been wanting to paint birds for a while now…today was the day! These little guys were so much fun to paint.
After changing the bathroom, (see previous post) I wanted to do something different with the living room; it’s been the same way for over 10 years. We’ve had the same floral couches in the living room since when Harold and I first got married and moved into the house. I now realize it was a bit of a boo-boo decision choosing a floral pattern because if you want to make a change in the room, you can’t replace couches as easily as you can replace smaller items. Doing several paintings now has given me the bug of wanting to freshen things up in my house for spring. It’s interesting that even tiny changes can make you want to keep altering things. I got a pastel blue tablecloth with birds and flowers on it from Target and even though it doesn’t really fit that well with the champagne/olive green/rose floral couches…that’s where these little paintings come in. They look perfect sitting on the shelf in the living room and seem to tie it all together. It’s little things like this that warm my heart and refresh my soul.
